Employee Spotlight: Celestine Gardner Brings Heart and Dedication to Kintock’s Erie Ave. Federal Program
Kintock is proud to shine the spotlight on Celestine Gardner, Federal Program Director at our Erie Avenue site, in recognition of her dedication, professionalism and meaningful contributions to Kintock.
With over 25 years’ experience in the criminal justice field, Celestine brings a unique blend of knowledge, curiosity and dependability to our organization. These characteristics have fueled her continued growth at Kintock, according to Frank Guyon, Philadelphia Site Administrator.
"Ms. Gardner is very passionate about her work, and assisting individuals, including staff and residents. She is frequently complimented by our contractors and arrives early nearly every day to make sure that there are no issues with the Federal Program," explains Mr. Guyon.
Before joining Kintock, Celestine spent 15 years at East Division Crime Services in Philadelphia, where she worked closely with defense attorneys as a court advocate and later transitioned into victim services.
Since joining Kintock in 2017 as a Case Manager Coordinator for the Federal Program, Celestine has advanced through a series of roles – managing both State and Parole Programs, in addition to the Federal Program, earning a promotion to Senior Case Manager in 2020, and most recently being appointed to her current leadership role in July 2024.
"Ms. Gardner is the definition of a self-starter," says Scott Weiss, Federal Program Director at our Luzerne Street site. "This was one of many reasons she was promoted to Senior Case Manager, where she truly shined. Ms. Gardner demonstrates a sense of ownership and pride you don't see in everyone and her staff think very highly of her. When a second director position became available in Philadelphia, upper management didn’t hesitate to consider her for the position."
Unwavering Dedication
In reflecting on her career journey, Celestine believes every opportunity and situation she has encountered along the way has contributed to her story and success. In fact, it was her son, her biggest supporter, who had worked at Kintock and urged her to apply for the Senior Case Manager role back in 2020.
"I’ve come full circle. Every piece of my path has led to where I am today," she explains.
Celestine deeply values the culture at Kintock, which she describes as a family. She credits her colleagues for their ongoing support and speaks fondly of the bonds formed among staff.
"There is such a warm feeling here at Kintock. We bounce ideas off one another, and everyone treats each other with professionalism and respect."
Celestine values the opportunity to collaborate with fellow directors and appreciates the open-door culture that allows for peer support and guidance.
Making A Difference
As the newest member of Kintock’s leadership team, Celestine credits her curiosity and love of learning for helping her prepare to lead. Known for her strong work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond, she consistently steps in wherever needed – whether serving as acting director, fostering relationships with the Bureau of Prisons and U.S. Probation, or even learning how the copier machine works!
While her rapid career progression is noteworthy, Celestine still believes that her most proud moments as a professional lie in the heartfelt calls she receives from former residents.
"For me, the biggest accomplishment is knowing I made a difference. You never really know the impact you have until someone calls back to thank you. That’s when you know it matters."
Looking ahead, Celestine is excited about her newest role and Kintock’s future. She is especially grateful for the opportunity to grow within the company, sharing her future aspiration is to one day join Kintock’s corporate team.
"This isn’t my last stop," she states confidently.
