Employee Spotlight: Mr. Bolds - Reflecting on 13 Years of Growth and Contribution at Kintock
We are thrilled to turn the spotlight on Lionel Bolds, a dedicated and valued member of the Kintock team for the past 13 years and Manager of Resident Supervisors at our Philadelphia program.
“Since joining Kintock in 2010, Mr. Bolds has exemplified a dedicated work ethic and a genuine passion for making a positive impact on both his colleagues and the residents we serve,” says Paul Taggines, COO of Kintock.
Favorite Memories Working at Kintock
Reminiscing about his first role at Kintock as a Resident Supervisor, Mr. Bolds fondly remembers the camaraderie and mutual support among staff and the daily challenges that kept him engaged. When he was promoted to Manager of Resident Supervisors in 2015, he candidly acknowledges the learning that accompanied this role transition. However, with the support of supervisors like Kashenna Smith and Mr. Taggines, Mr. Bolds successfully navigated his new role and continued to grow.
In fact, Mr. Bolds says that the consistent support from supervisors over the years is what he most likes about working at Kintock. From the early days of his career, Pam Barton, Mr. Kareem Fisher, Operations Director, Paul Taggines, and Frank Guyon have played pivotal roles in his growth according to Mr. Bolds. He is especially grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from Mr. Guyon, Philadelphia Site Administrator, whose humility and hands-on leadership style he especially admires.
"[They] all helped me grow and provided support and patience, and I'd like to thank them," says Bolds.
Proudest Achievements
When asked about his accomplishments at Kintock, Mr. Bolds highlights his role in training resident supervisors for manager positions. "Passing along what I've learned as a manager to others and then watching them do their job correctly have been the accomplishments that I'm most proud of," he shares with pride.
“It has been a pleasure working with Mr. Bolds over the past 13 years. He is someone who is not afraid to tell you like it is, while also being professional and offering his assistance. Any time he sees me walking through the facility, Mr. Bolds will say, ‘You doing a tour young fella? I'll go with you,’ notes Mr. Guyon.
“He was one of the Managers who helped lead our facility through the very difficult COVID procedures and continues to provide leadership to staff under his supervision as well as other Managers. His Philly sports talk and occasional singing in the facility is always a welcome sight,” adds Mr. Guyon.
For Mr. Bolds a pivotal learning experience has been a willingness to listen to residents’ needs, earning their respect and appreciating their humanity. It's a valuable lesson that has shaped his approach to his work and interactions with others.
Words of Wisdom for New Employees and Aspiring Managers
For new employees, Mr. Bolds offers some sage advice: "Listen. Show that you're willing to help. Be supportive and and do the work." He thinks it’s especially important for managers to lead by example.
As he prepares to bid farewell to Kintock this fall, Mr. Bolds concedes that leaving Kintock will be difficult. He says he will miss the meaningful connections he has forged with staff and residents and the chance to help others grow. But he also looks forward to having more time to enjoy fishing and playing golf.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Bolds for his dedicated service to Kintock over the years and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
